Hines, a real estate investment, development and property manager, has announced the launch of a new fund targeting Asia – Hines Asia Real Estate Partners (Harep) – which is a diversified, closed-ended fund. The new fund comes on the back of Hines Asia Property Partners (Happ), its multi-sector, core-plus open-ended fund launched in May 2021 with investors from 15 countries and a corpus of $1.8 billion.

Harep marks the firm’s addition of a value-add strategy in Asia, helping it expand its suite of open-ended core-plus and closed-ended value-add strategies to meet investor needs across geographies and the risk spectrum. Hines has appointed Caleb Shen, whom it acquired from GLP Capital Partners, as senior managing director overseeing Harep.

The new fund aims to target a range of real estate investments across value-add office, industrial, hospitality, residential and retail assets. Hines has been actively developing, managing and investing in the Asian real estate market for the past two decades, with a portfolio of over $5.5 billion in assets under management and two million sqft of completed properties as well as six million sqft of projects under development.

The launch of Harep is a reflection of Hines’ commitment to deepening investments in the Asia Pacific region, following in the footsteps of its open-ended core-plus fund, Happ. By targeting investments across a range of sectors with diversified strategies, Hines can meet the varying needs of investors in the region, enabling them to take advantage of the lucrative opportunities in the rapidly growing Asian market.

Overall, Harep presents a unique opportunity for investors to diversify their portfolios and gain access to the Asian real estate market. With Hines’ two decades of experience in the region and extensive portfolio of assets, investors can rest assured they will be in good hands.
