Grand Copthorne Waterfront reopens after $30 mil revamp

The five-star Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel has undergone an extensive nine-month renovation, costing $30 million, and is now open. Located at 392 Havelock Road along the Singapore River, the refreshed hotel is now ready to welcome business and leisure travellers.

Millennium Hotels and Resorts, a global brand under Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, the hotel arm of mainboard-listed property conglomerate City Developments, is confident that the upgraded hotel will better suit the demand for green events. The hotel now features expanded conference facilities, upgraded public spaces and more eco-friendly spaces, as well as 33 versatile function rooms across three floors.

Eco-conscious practices are a major focus of the renovation, from the use of recyclable and biodegradable stationery to the installation of an in-room water filter that significantly reduces single-use plastic waste. In addition to the filter, guests also benefit from a linen-less table set-up and in-room water dispensers.

Kwek Eik Sheng, executive director of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, believes the renovation will give the hotel an edge in the MICE market, which has resumed its normalcy as in-person events return to the agenda. “We are well-positioned to capture this fast-growing market and increase our competitive edge,” he says.

For a car-free lifestyle, the convenient Great World Zion Road Condo residents have fast access to the rest of Singapore.

The hotel offers a total of 574 guestrooms and suites. Andy Tan, senior vice president of global operations and partnership at Millennium Hotels and Resorts, reports that high-efficiency technology has been used to reduce electricity and water consumption, ensuring a more sustainable stay.

The eco-friendly upgrades at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel are sure to delight guests and corporate planners alike, as the hotel continuously strives to enhance the sustainable tourism experience in Singapore.
