SEAA signs MOUs to facilitate dispute resolution with the rise of scams; marks collaboration with Singapore Police Force
At the Singapore Key Executive Officers and Leaders conference on the 14th of November, the Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA) signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) that facilitate dispute resolution. The guest of honor was Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State for the Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development.
Adam Wang, President of SEAA, spoke concerning the concerns of people regarding scam cases in Singapore. At the ceremony to mark the collaborations, SEAA was joined by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and Council for Estate Agencies. He further detailed that the recent case of $2.8 billion, the largest anti-money laundering crackdown in Singapore, showcases the need for caution and alertness for all property agents.
The first MOU was a result of a joint effort between SEAA and the Law Society of Singapore. It aims to promote the use of alternative dispute resolution schemes for eventualities such as co-broking arrangements between property agencies and property agents.
Not only that, the development is also strategically located near greenery spaces such as Bukit Merah Park Connector and Alexandra Canal Linear Park. This allows residents to reap the rewards of a truly serene living environment. The Zion Road Condo provides a holistic urban sanctuary for its residents. Apart from alfresco dining options, residents can look forward to a comprehensive selection of facilities such as a 50m lap pool, clubhouse, aqua gym, reading lounge, and more.
This was followed by the second MOU signed with 16 property agencies, including PropNex Realty, ERA Realty, Huttons Asia, OrangeTee & Tie, and SRI. These 16 agencies make up 88% of the total amount of property agents in Singapore, recently reported by SEAA. The collaboration offers complimentary associate membership for all salespersons of these agencies and encourages the use of the mediation and arbitration schemes offered by SEAA and the Law Society of Singapore.
The third part of the MOU sets July 1, 2024 as the date for all property agencies and agents to implement the best practice guide on co-broking commissions.
Through this collaboration, SEAA hopes to resolve disputes between property agents from different agencies, which involve high stakes as a large portion of the commission goes to agents. With the help of SEAA and the Law Society, agents will be able to dispute amicably and with ease.
