To cater to the evolving needs for school and preschool placements, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced the relocation of two schools – Kranji Primary School and Outram Secondary School – to new locations. The changes are expected to take place between 2026 and 2028. This is part of the MOE’s ongoing efforts to review and adjust its plans to ensure that all students have access to quality education.

Kranji Primary School, currently situated in Chua Chu Kang, will be relocated to Tengah, a new town that is expected to be fully developed by 2025. This will make it the second primary school in Tengah, after Pioneer Primary School, which is scheduled to open in 2026. The relocation is also expected to help ease the demand for primary school places in the surrounding areas.

As part of the move, MK@Kranji, an MOE kindergarten, will also be relocated to the same site. MK@Kranji will continue to operate until its last batch of students graduate in 2025. Kranji Primary School will follow suit in 2029, after all its current students have graduated.

In addition, Outram Secondary School, currently located in York Hill, will be moving to Sengkang by 2026. To minimize disruption to students, the school will not be admitting new Secondary 1 students in 2025. Instead, it will begin accepting new Secondary 1 students at its Sengkang campus from 2026. Both campuses will operate until 2027 when the last batch of Secondary 4 students graduate.

Apart from these changes, the MOE is also planning to open a new primary school at Tampines North, with an MK on site. This school is expected to start operations in 2029, with further details to be confirmed at a later date.

Another additional kindergarten will also be launched in Bukit Batok West, as part of Bukit View Primary School’s new campus. This kindergarten is expected to open in 2028.

As part of its continual review process, the MOE is considering the possibility of a school at the former Zion PSI Centre site in River Valley. This may include the establishment of a new primary school or the relocation of an existing school.
