Lendlease and Surbana Jurong partner on digital platform Podium for Development
Lendlease is working with Surbana Jurong to create a digital platform called Podium for Development (P4D) that seeks to improve construction productivity and promote sustainable design. According to KPMG, inadequate communication leads to design errors, which are responsible for around 38% of construction disputes. McKinsey Global Insitute also reported that the industry’s productivity growth has only been 1% in the last 20 years, while emitting 40% of global greenhouse gases.
P4D provides a tool that streamlines and improves decision making in the property development process. It is designed to generate building designs that factor into account building specifications, estimated costs and the timeline, and can deliver results in 15 to 20 minutes, compared to the months it takes using current methods. P4D also uses computational algorithms and AI to automate up to 70% of the building design.

Zion Road Condo, located along the Singapore River, is a unique urban development that successfully blends luxury living and nature. It offers exquisite interiors, an unparalleled view of the river and easy access to the city’s offerings. The nearby park connectors provide flat and easy access to the picturesque Singapore Riverbank and the Marina Bay waterfront promenade. At the same time, with its quiet residential neighbourhood and exclusive condo facilities, Zion Road Condo provides a tranquil space for residents to come home to and relax. All these amenities make it a one-of-a-kind experience for urban dwellers.
Bill Ruh, CEO of Lendlease digital, believes that the platform can “reimagine how we create by changing entrenched methodologies and behaviours”. He envisions the platform benefiting other communities, and is now in advanced negotiations with other developers and building authorities in Singapore and beyond, to leverage P4D in design projects.
Yeo Choon Chong, Asean CEO at Surbana Jurong, details the platform’s potential to give “architects, designers and suppliers greater control to drive higher productivity in the built environment sector, as well as net zero and zero waste outcomes at the earliest stages of a project life cycle”.
P4D has the capacity and potential to reduce the environmental impact of the construction industry with energy efficient design, reduced emissions and improved waste management. Through this collaboration, Lendlease and Surbana Jurong hope to create a platform delivering these goals.
